Its lyrics are a carefully woven composite of Bible texts, centered on Christ’s solemn counsel to the church in Philadelphia: “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown”(Revelation 3:11). With a steady, watchful character and moments of quiet intensity, this setting invites the listener to endure with faith—holding firmly to Christ’s promises until He returns. Barbara Irene Bennett, creator of Hymns for Worship, performs on the piano.
